The four assessment areas
Procure-to-Pay (P2P) covers the full journey from purchasing need through order and receipt to invoice and payment. P2P maturity describes how digital and connected that journey is: whether purchasing happens in one place, whether agreements are actually used, whether invoices are processed without manual work, and whether data gives a consolidated overview. The more connected the process, the easier it is to steer spend and document that purchases are made correctly.
- Digital procurement – Does purchasing happen in one place, with control before the order is sent?
- Contract compliance – Are the agreements in place actually used in daily purchasing?
- Invoice automation – How many invoices pass through without manual handling?
- Data and insight – Do you have a consolidated, up-to-date overview of purchasing and spend?
What you get from the assessment
- An overall indication of your P2P maturity
- A view of each of the four areas
- 2–3 recommendations based on your answers and priority
- The result as a PDF – without giving contact details
Digitising purchasing and invoicing – where to start?
Many organisations start with invoices because that is where manual work is most visible. But an invoice that cannot be matched is often caused by something earlier: a purchase without an order, a supplier outside the agreement or a price that was not agreed.
That is why it makes sense to look at the whole chain: when the agreement drives purchasing and the order follows all the way to the invoice, automation becomes easier – and data becomes a reliable basis for the next decision.
How the result is calculated
The assessment consists of seven questions. The first two concern your organisation and invoice volume and provide context – they are not scored. The next four each cover one area: purchasing, contract compliance, invoice automation and data insight. Each answer gives 0–3 points, a maximum of 12 points in total. The last question is about your priority and is only used to select recommendations.
The points are converted to a percentage: 0–44% means significant development potential, 45–74% moderate digital maturity and 75–100% high digital maturity. The result is indicative and based solely on your own answers. It is not a verified benchmark or a comparison with other organisations.
